Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards Summerfest Grape Stomp
“Bring the family and do the purple foot dance”
Summer in Florida lends well to all sorts of outdoor activities. Beaches and theme parks usually top most to-do lists for visitors, and there are plenty of other remarkable activities that should be on everyone’s radar. Summerfest Grape Stomp is one of the best examples of this. Every year, Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards puts their unique spin on summer in Central Florida, inviting thousands of people to their 127-acre estate for a weekend of purple-footed fun. The festival features live music, food courts and wine/beer bars, and of course, grape stomping.
Grape stomping, if you are unfamiliar, is exactly what it sounds like yet so much more fun than you imagine it to be. The satisfying squish beneath your feet has plenty of names, from “the crush” and “punch-down” to my personal favorite, the “purple foot two step.” No matter what you call it, you can’t beat that feeling between your toes. If you are particularly good at it, you can even compete against others at Summerfest for a shot at winning some prizes.
If stomping on some grapes isn’t your cup of tea, you can still have a great time enjoying the delicious food and drink and play some outdoor games while you soak up the summer sun. Lakeridge Winery offers plenty of drink options—primarily wine, but also beer and soft drinks, as well as all kinds of food, from American and Mexican staples to seafood and even some Greek dishes.
There are also three to four winery tours each hour during the festival for curious guests wanting a behind-the-scenes look at the wine-making process. The tour covers the entire process including growing the grapes to bottling and labeling the final product. The tours also include a sampling of a handful of wines, providing the perfect opportunity to taste a range of fantastic Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards offerings.
